Dispatch from Energy Nation

Bobby,

Wow -- and thank you! April 22 was the Keystone XL comment period deadline, and members of the Energy Nation community like you submitted tens of thousands of letters in support of the project to the State Department.

I also wanted to share the latest news with you: the House of Representatives just advanced a bill that would fast-track Keystone XL. The House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman, Fred Upton (R-MI), said:

"The American people have waited patiently for over four-and-a-half years for Keystone's jobs and energy supplies, and this bipartisan bill will finally end the delays of this project once and for all."

While we watch what happens in Congress and the State Department for Keystone, there are other energy industry issues on the horizon -- like discussion of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

Haven't heard of it? The RFS is a federal mandate enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that requires increasing the amount of biofuels, like ethanol, blended with gasoline. Despite legitimate concerns about economic, environmental and vehicle damage -- and bi-partisan opposition from lawmakers, refiners, vehicle manufacturers and NGOs alike -- the EPA continues to enforce this unworkable policy.

Click here to check out our slideshow on the negative impacts of the RFS.

We're going to need your support -- and your voice -- to make sure that Congress repeals the RFS. Stay tuned for more ways you can help.

Thank you again, Bobby, for standing up for the oil and natural gas industry.
